Sort Fields

Sorting is an important tool for visitors to find the best match for their quest. Think of price (low to high) or date (most recent articles first). Frequently occurring sorting options are on relevance (determined by your search field settings, ranking rules, and push words) or on price. But you should make sure to add any options you feel are important to your visitors.

Adding new sort fields

Click on the yellow '+Add new sort field' button to add a new sort option. Sorting can be offered on multiple fields of your data. The settings screen will open where you can specify the following settings:

Label

Use this field to specify the label for the sort option.

Sort method

You can set the sort method to by sort function or by field value. If you chose by field value, you're sorting by a specific field from your data. You can then specify the data field you want to base your sort option on. Eg. price or title. If you want to base sorting on a predefined function, you can choose between Relevance or Clickrank.

Relevance
The Relevance option sorts your results based on the relevance that’s determined by your settings in Site Search > Advanced > Search Fields.

Clickrank
If you choose Clickrank, it will automatically show the products that are clicked on most up top in the result list, also taking relevance in account. This makes your search a lot more relevant and doesn’t require any work from your end. You don’t need to cater to seasonality when you choose Clickrank: Activate Search will know what products are popular with your visitors at the moment.

Order Set the order to Ascending (0-9, A-Z) or Descending (9-0, Z-A). Sorting set for relevance should always be set to Descending, so the items with the highest relevance score end up on top.
Enable boosting Field boosting gives you the possibility of activating certain “boosting” rules that are only active within this sort option. After enabling the boost function, you can specify the field that you want to use for the boost. The field must consist of a numeric value. Specify how much you want to boost or demote this specific field.
